Introduction

I often say, “These won’t change your life, but your life won’t change without correcting these!”

This course and guidebook will provide information & tools for understanding why you feel stuck in repeat thinking patterns, and how you might become more effective. Because its a very simple construct, as you’ll see, it runs the risk of being oversimplified by simply categorizing thinking in certain ways and as you learn the thinking traps, you’ll come to understand there is a lot of overlap between the main ten categories.

NOTE: I have found over time, that CBT practices challenging thoughts are most effective in conjunction with connecting to the body and soothing any fight/flight/freeze responses. Keep this in mind as you “unlearn and relearn” thinking skills, to include mindfulness and body-based skills in your recovery. “Calm the body, Calm the mind” is how I view this process.
